Phoebe's Introduction

Phoebe - 1 week old Hello World! I'm PHOEBE !

My Foster Parent, also known as a Puppy Trainer, is holding me in his hand after choosing me for the lucky puppy to begin training for a career as a Mobility Assistance Dog. I think I would like to call him "PaPa Jim". In this picture I am one week old and don't even have my eyes open yet.

I was born on 6-6-06. At that time I still did not have a name. My new Foster Parents, PaPa Jim and MaMa Sue, decided to ask their ten grandchildren for help in choosing a name for me.

PHOEBE was chosen from the names submitted to Karen, the President of New Life Mobility Assistance Dogs, and I just love it. George, one of their grandchildren from Fort Wayne, Indiana was the one who suggested that name. Thank you George, I hope to be able to visit you someday.

Jim Taylor holding Phoebe age 9 weeks PaPa Jim already told me George and his sister Alice had taken other Mobility Assistance Dogs to their school classes. I sent all of the grandchildren a bright shiny new US $1 gold coin with a "Golden Eagle" on it. I thought it would be a nice gift from a "Golden Retriever" for helping out with my name.

Phoebe PaPa Jim & MaMa Sue have a little dog named GEECHEE and a cat named DOC. I am so glad they were here because they helped me a lot for the first few nights being away from my Mom and my brothers and sisters for the first time.

So now I begin my training, living with PaPa Jim & MaMa Sue in this beautiful place called Taylor's Peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Follow my career trail as I begin training to become a Mobility Assistance Dog in "The Golden Tails of Phoebe". I feel so lucky in being chosen for a career to help a person with a disability.

Cuddles & Paws,
PHOEBE
