Success Stories
Lewis Yoder and Lizzie

My name is Brenda Foster. My father Lewis Yoder had a stroke 12 years ago. You can only imagine how all our lives changed in that instant. Dad lost his sight, mobility, and sense of self. Then about ten years ago, a wonderful thing happened: we met Karen Brown of NLMAD. Karen is a mover and shaker; she matched and started training my father with Cinder almost immediately. It was a match made in heaven. All of a sudden our lives changed again for the better. Dad was mobile again with his confidence back. So for the last ten years we've had smooth sailing!

Then we got some devastating news: Cinder had cancer. Dr. Jackson of Animal Hospital of Wilkes held our hands through the whole ordeal. But we lost Cinder and Dad was again lost. My father asked me to put him in a nursing home. In a panic, I called Karen, and again she was there to the rescue. She has now matched Lizzie, a special yellow lab, with Dad. You just can't imagine the sense of hope and relief that Lizzie has already brought to our lives!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped my father and Cinder along the way, and those who I know will also come to love Lizzie as much as they did Cinder. I must admit to being very touched by the outpouring of sympathy over our loss of Cinder. She will be sorely missed, but her passing cannot be the end for my father.

Now comes the hard part: FUNDRAISING! Please help us. Any donation is and will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
