Success Stories
Sylvia and Faith

Sylvia and FaithSylvia deserves the most courageous award. She traveled three thousand miles to put her trust in a dog she had not met and to stay at a stranger's house. Also, she had to travel to dialysis an hour away three times a week in the wee hours of the morning in an area she did not know. Sylvia will tell you, "I just did what I had to do." Rest assured this is one brave lady!

Before arriving, Sylvia's letters expressed concern that Faith wouldn't like her or listen to her. The liking part was immediate although the listening part took a bit longer. However, within two weeks, this team has come a long way.

Indeed, just 13 days ago, this was a team that was attempting to learn wheelchair pulling and had Sylvia bouncing off the walls like a pinball machine until she learned to maneuver the chair. Now they can wind through WalMart with just the occasional outcry, "Oh dear!" followed by a boom!!

We have also gotten a kick out of Sylvia and her antics. She said she needed her dog to retrieve. She didn't say she left a trail of dropped items wherever she went. Faith has her work cut out for her!

Another one of Sylvia's antics was locking her keys and Faith in the car. Lucidly, we had a hide-a-key. Fortunately, Sylvia can't put Faith on the roof, forget about her and drive off with her still on the roof as a morn sometimes does with a baby carrier.
